MAAFA Starts February 2023!

Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC) celebrates black history and culture all year round, during Black History Month in February we take special notice of the African’s journey.

What is MAAFA?

Trinity UCC interprets MAAFA as a large-scale theatrical production that explores the trauma endured by African slaves, including the deadly “Middle Passage” journey of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

The church itself is also transformed into a museum containing artwork and historical artifacts. It takes place primarily at the church, and is the theme of our worship services and other experiences. Through written words, dance, mime, drama, music, and of course, the preached word, we share our incredible history.

This preview is is meant to provide additional context to the Black History month worship services you experience at Trinity UCC, and to serve as an educational tool for you, your family and friends.
