Hebrews: A Faith That Endures

Class Dates: Friday, July 1, 8, 15 & 29 – 7:00pm – 8:00pm,

The Book of Hebrew Bible study is an Adult Bible study that presents Theological and ethical content through the lens of the book’s ancient spiritual, social, cultural, and political context and meaning as a foundation for a timeless Christian faith. Students will be equipped with fundamental Christian apologetics and spiritual tools to better identify ways in which faith undergirds actions to produce a favorable pathway forward.

 

 

Ecowomanism

Class Dates: Wednesday, July 6, 13, & 27, – 6:00pm – 7:00pm –

Facilitator: Minister Aliyah Collins –

In this three week course, students will explore Melanie Harris’s book Ecowomanism. Young women ages 14 – 30 will focus on climate change, environmental justice, and how these aligns with African values, the importance of spiritual care for black women’s spiritual and physical bodies. Students are to purchase Melanie Harris’ book, Ecowomanism

Students will explore The Story of David defeating Goliath and the interesting facts in scriptures that catches our attention, even before David’s encounter with the giant.

 

 

Leading/Serving On Empty: The Christian Response to Spiritual Burnout and Restoration Amid the Pandemic

Class Dates: Tuesday, July 12, 26, August 2 – 6:00pm – 7:00pm –

Facilitator: Rev. Regena Glenn-Caldwell, – RGlenncaldwell@trinitychicago.org – Leading/Serving On Empty: The Christian Response to Spiritual Burnout and Restoration Amid the Pandemic, for Leaders, Ministry Members, and Lay Members. The Bible gives attention to themes of stress, fear, and anxiety which have been very helpful when navigating through the pandemic. While life can present ups and downs, or highs, and lows our God remains constant. As we journey together, this course will help us work through this common space as the pandemic continues to cause extremes, leaders find themselves experiencing burnout which affects their ability to lead and serve.

 

 

Call Narratives Part 2

Class Dates: Thursday, July 14, 28, August 4, & 11 –

This class is part two of the Biblical Call Narratives class offered last Bible study semester. This class is for those who are wrestling with a call to ministry. We will continue exploring Old Testament call narratives . We will explore how The who, what and why of these narratives can provide nurturing and direction within our own call narratives. If you are first receiving, or in the midst of your calling, this powerful class is for you. Join us this semester as we explore the calling narratives of Joseph and Esther.

Class Dates: Tuesday, August 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30, – 7:00pm – 8:30pm

This class will delve into the understanding of the timeless connection between women of today and women in the Bible. Selections from the Book of Matthew

Class Dates: Thursday – August 4, 11, & 18, 12:30pm – 1:30pm,

Facilitator: Rev. Michael Jacobs – MJacobs@trinitychicago.org –

Selections from the Book of Matthew: A Closer Look at the end of Jesus’ Earthly Life. The Gospel of Matthew which is written to a largely Jewish audience initially according to the biblical scholars who put together “The New Interpreter’s Study Bible” offers us an opportunity to look at some selected texts. We will look at passages such as, “The Transfiguration,” “Jesus Cleanses the Temple.” We will also study the texts that define who Jesus is and what his mission entails. Finally, we will look at scriptures in Matthew that detail Jesus’ after the Resurrection and his appearances to the disciples.
